About
Hey there, Iβm Kayla.
I moved to Portland from New York in 2018, and have been photographing weddings ever since. What started as an inherited camera and a much needed creative outlet turned into a deep passion for capturing love in its truest form.
The first time I photographed a wedding, I was moved to tears.
I believe that at the core of photography, at the bottom of everything, is the experience of being truly seen. Every person that falls on the other side of my lens deserves that.
The legacy of my work is celebrating the human experience. Being in love, sharing pure joy with your closest loved ones. The name βTogether Theoryβ was born from the beauty of that - a celebration of being present and together with the ones you hold dearest.
My style on a wedding day: swiftly documenting, calmly guiding, and enthusiastically cheering you on. Iβm very unobstrusive and love to capture moments as they happen, occasionally guiding you towards what I know will be a great photo. During coupleβs portraits Iβll suggest poses but focus on you and your partner genuinely enjoying every bit of the day.
I shoot a mixture of digital and film. In my opinion film is the best part of a gallery and a lot of the work that youβll find throughout my portfolio is shot on it.
Iβve been asked while working if weddings are what I do to fuel other passion projects. The answer is no - weddings are my passion project. I genuinely love being a part of wedding days and would be honored to be there to capture yours.
The single most important thing about your weddingβ¦
is how you feel. I keep that in mind and make it priority. Both by creating a safe space, but also letting you lead the day. The photography on your day wonβt feel like a full day photoshoot - it will feel joyous, relaxed, and fun.
When Iβm not shooting weddings youβll find me:
taking my dog Maxine on adventures
vintage shopping
seeing concerts (my favorite artists are Bully, Phoebe Bridgers, and Hop Along)
hanging out with my little black cat, Ever
working through my list of seeing a movie at every independent theater in Portland
eating vegan food with my husband
